TPM in San Vicente de la Barquera

During the days of January 27, 28, and 29, we hosted at our center the first meeting of the ARTISTIC JOURNEY TO GREEN FUTURE project, in which a group of teachers from the schools and institutions involved in our Erasmus project participated in a variety of activities:

  • A musical welcome led by the Early Years and Primary teams.
  • A guided tour of the center organized by the 6th-grade group. They  they spoke about the facilities, daily routines, and the organization of the school in English.
  • Visits to the classrooms to see how the project is developing in Early Years and Primary.
  • Coordination meetings, as well as sessions to foster teamwork and communication, since these projects rely on effective collaboration.
  • A visit to the Town Hall, where they were received by the mayor.
  • Excursions to local sites related to our project (ASELART in Mazcuerras, rock art at Altamira).
  • All performances were rated as excellent by all our visitors, who highlighted how warmly they were welcomed by the entire School Community.

Participants in this meeting:

  • Zeki Altindag Primary School in Konya, Turkey.
  • Nikola Kljusev Foundation in Skopje, North Macedonia.
  • Selçuk Fine Arts Faculty in Selçuk, Turkey.
  • Sant Francis School Cospicua in Cospicua, Malta.
  • Osnovna Škola Stjepana Radica in Metković, Croatia.

These were highly enriching days for everyone involved. We advocate European projects and believe that, through them, we give students the opportunity to bring other countries and realities into our classrooms, as well as to share our heritage and culture with others.

The first ERASMUS + project for Stjepan Radić Elementary School

In September 2024, the first Erasmus + project for the Stjepan Radić Elementary School, Artistic journey to green future, was approved, with the primary objectives being:

  • to stimulate imagination through art
  • to foster environmental awareness in children from an aesthetic point of view, so that children appreciate natural beauty
  • to provide impactful and lasting environmental education
  • to promote the development of key social and civic skills
  • to encourage children through art to love nature and find solutions to combat climate change

This project deals with the environment and climate change, creativity, art, and culture. In societies that are far from art, teaching concepts such as love, respect, and tolerance is insufficient, and it is observed that children who are far from these feelings unknowingly damage their environment. By establishing a strong partnership with a university, four primary schools, and a foundation, the aim is to contribute to the creation of an aesthetic and moral view of nature through modern methods of work through art as a chosen tool.

"One of the greatest tasks of society is to provide children with the attitudes, values, knowledge, and skills necessary to secure a healthy, fair, and sustainable future for all." (Davis, 1998)
